Coffee and pastry tasting social - 2/23 from 10-11 am
We will be hosting our next GWE social on Thursday, Feb 23 from 10-11 am at Bechtel Terrace. We will have coffee from a few local shops and some breakfast items to go with! Stop by and bring your friends/lab mates.

H2H8 Association offers yearly grants for research to advance humanity to graduate students in Mathematical & Physical Sciences Division L&S, EECS, College of Engineering, UC Berkeley.
2023 Available Graduate Research Grants
Thirty US$10,000 research grants for graduate students as follows:
Grant recipients become H2H8 Explorers and join H2H8 Pioneer Club to engage with H2H8 Association. H2H8 Pioneer Club is a community for life

Thirty US$10,000 research grants for graduate students as follows:

Systems integration internship opportunity
A Cal GWE alum is hiring a summer intern for the medical device co-development and consulting company she works for. This systems integration intern would work on a set of innovative medical devices on the path to commercialization — spanning design, prototyping, test, and systems integration. The job description is deliberately open-ended for undergrad and grad STEM folks who are interested in the med device space.

How can we engage diverse talent to transform the future of infrastructure to address inequality and promote smarter environments?
Join EDGE in Tech, CITRIS and the Banatao Institute, and Berkeley Engineering on Thursday, March 2, 2023, for Smarter Tech for a Resilient Future, a virtual symposium highlighting the experiences of experts using emerging technologies to advance innovation for more sustainable infrastructure.
The event will feature professionals who are pioneering new approaches to intelligent transportation networks, healthy indoor environments, aviation infrastructure and next-generation agriculture. Speakers will also discuss their career pathways to help attendees visualize themselves in high-growth sectors and rise to meet society’s needs for a greener future.
The symposium will also feature the EDGE in Tech Athena Awards, recognizing leaders who have championed the advancement of women and people of color in technology.

Our personal struggles help shape us into who we are. A key component to growing as a leader requires self-reflecting on your strengths and identifying areas of growth.
In this 1-day, 4 hour workshop (including a working lunch), Professor Lisa Pruitt will guide you through creating a personal road map that will help you identify your leadership philosophy by incorporating your values and principles. Through personal sharing, listening with empathy, giving and receiving feedback, this workshop aims to empower you to take ownership of your life to help you feel invigorated to lead others.
RSVP and deadline information:
This event is limited to 20 attendees so your RSVP is required by Thursday, February 16th, 12 Noon. If we receive more RSVPs than seats available, we will then run a lottery for the 20 seats. Students admitted to the workshop will receive an email confirmation and bcal invitation by Friday, March 10th. Note: If you are unable to attend, please cancel your registration to allow others an opportunity to join.
Is there pre-work that I need to do before the workshop?
Prior to the workshop, students who are admitted to the workshop will be required to read Professor Pruitt’s most recently published book, “Soul of a Professor: Memoir of an Un-Engineered Life.” A free copy of this book will be provided a week in advance.
