Family Science Night
December 2nd, 2021
Volunteer opportunity! Virtual Family Science Fun Night at Bridges at Melrose Thursday, December 2nd from 3:30pm-5:30pm. Ann Park, a teacher at the local elementary school, is looking for 6-12 cool female scientist role models to join the students. There will be break-out rooms in which GWE volunteers will lead activities related to the “Magic of Paper” theme. The activities are already planned by the school, so you just need to show up and have fun with the students! Please contact sgeberly@berkeley.edu if you are interested.

DESCRIPTION: Every year GradSWE at Illinois invites a group of accomplished speakers (with graduate degrees in STEM) to share their experiences and insights with current graduate students. The conference will include panel discussions, breakout sessions, and networking time to facilitate one-on-one interactions with the speakers as well as other conference attendees. Get ready tobe inspired to excel in your field, stay motivated to complete your degree, and grow passionate about the positive impact you can have on the world following a graduate degree in STEM! Paid part-time internship opportunity
We are looking for a software engineer to participate in a National Science Foundation (NSF) SBIR Seed Fund Phase 1 grant project. You will work on integrating an FDA-cleared, medical-grade wearable device with an iOS mobile app and a proprietary algorithm to detect women's health biomarkers. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a top technical and scientific team that includes engineers and scientists from SRI International.
The ideal candidate would be fluent in Swift iOS programming for creating iPhone-based apps and Python, have developed an app, and be familiar with working with 3rd party IOS frameworks and libraries and data from 3rd party devices. Experience in healthcare-related data or apps is desirable but not required.
The position is highly flexible. You can work from anywhere in the U.S. and set your own hours as long as you meet the overall timeline and milestones. This is a part-time hourly internship for a 2-3 month duration of time. There may be an opportunity to join the team for Phase 2.

XForce Fellowship

The annual X-Force Fellowship applications open Oct 18th! The X-Force Fellowship program is an opportunity for technologists and entrepreneurs to serve their country by solving real-world national security problems in collaboration with the U.S. military. The X-Force Fellowship program is open to U.S. citizens and permanent residents at the undergraduate and graduate level, pursuing fields ranging from mobile and web app development, data analysis and visualization, hardware prototyping, social media strategy, policy research, and technology scouting. Participants get the opportunity to work on a mission-focused real-world project, participate in a professional development opportunity, work directly with military and national security leaders, and gain perspective as to how their skills and experience can have an outsized impact on national security. CRA Life Sciences Information Session & Case Discussion
November 17th, 2021
Join us on November 17th, 2021 at 5:00 pm PST, for the CRA Life Sciences Information Session & Case Discussion. This is an event for Ph.D. students to connect with us to learn more about our company, learn about career opportunities in consulting, and features a case discussion in interactive breakout groups to discuss how CRA approaches designing its research methodology for client projects. This is an excellent opportunity to network with our consultants through breakout rooms and learn more about the day to day life as a Consulting Associate at CRA. Please feel free to share this event with interested parties.
This event is geared towards students who are:
- Pursuing a PhD or postdoc in the physical sciences, life sciences, social sciences, engineering, or a closely related field, or M.D.
