PhD 101: Mastering the Basics of Personal Finance

Come to learn from the experts and improve your own financial knowledge. We thank our guest speaker, Sarah Sprague Gerber, the founder of Momentum Financial Planning LLC for joining us! This IS the place for all of your uncomfortable and embarrassing questions! Please add them to our RSVP form.

All attendees can be reimbursed up to $15 for snacks or coffee. Be sure to save your itemized receipt that has the purchaser’s name printed.

Adulting 101: Finance
Non-traditional graduate students resources panel
Monday, November 16 from 12-1pm

Come to learn about the different services and programs available on campus for non-traditional graduate students (students parents, students older than their cohort, students with work experience, veterans, etc.). This will be a safe space for students to discuss with the representatives their needs and provide feedback as well. We will have representatives from the following programs:
  • Centers for Educational Equity and Excellence
  • Graduate Student Parent Advocacy Project
  • Student Parent Center Program
  • Graduate Student Life
  • Graduate Wellness Program
All attendees can be reimbursed up to $15 for food or non-alcoholic drinks. Be sure to save your itemized receipt that has the purchaser’s name printed.

Volunteering with SWE for Tech Day
Saturday, November 21 from 10am-4pm

Tech Day is a free day-long event for middle school girls interested in computer science and engineering! We will be having various workshops and activities and need additional Zoom breakout room leaders! You don't need to have any prior experience or knowledge to volunteer. Just bring your excitement and passion to help these young girls learn and grow! If you are interested in volunteering, please fill out this form.

Georgia Tech Postdoctoral Fellowship for all Engineering Majors
Application Due December 1, 2020

We are very pleased to share with you that Georgia Tech recently joined our University Partnerships for Faculty Diversity. The Georgia Tech President's Postdoctoral Fellowship Program will offer fellowships for the 2021-22 academic year in the following research areas. Our program aims to encourage outstanding women and minority Ph.D. recipients to pursue academic careers, whether here at Georgia Tech or another university. We hope you will consider the President’s Postdoctoral Fellowship Program that offers postdoctoral research fellowships coupled with faculty mentoring, research support, professional development, and academic networking opportunities across all fields of engineering. Postdoctoral services at Tech have a mission to enhance your training and professional development, while building a sense of community. We encourage you to learn more about our program and review the evaluation and selection criteria.

Self Care Workshop by Graduate Womxn Project / Women of Color Initiative
Thursday, November 5 from 5-6pm

WOCI, GWP and SOGA will be hosting a self-care workshop that is open to all. This is a time for us to get together, connect and decompress. The workshop will be: Grounding in the Storm: Self-Care in Times of Chaos by Jihan McDonald. In this workshop, we'll practice body-based tools for managing stress and overwhelming emotions to keep ourselves resourced and resilient during these unpredictable and often challenging times. Our main tools will be meditation, visualization, healing hands work, and conversation.
